How long would your church survive if its building was tragically destroyed in a matter of minutes?

The Christians who survived the Indian Ocean tsunami in Sri Lanka face this dilemma now—even as you are reading this webpage. Their church buildings have become concrete slabs covered with temporary shelters, and supplies such as Bibles, musical instruments, children’s church materials, and hymn books have been . . . literally . . . washed away.

Today, more than 100 evangelical congregations have been affected by the tsunami, and 23 Sri Lankan church structures have been damaged without repair. Many churches are severely damaged.

Something must be done.

Through the generosity of thousands of people like you, Christian Life Missions teamed with the Evangelical Alliance of Sri Lanka to provide medical relief, food and shelters for the survivors in Sri Lanka within days of the violent tsunami’s destruction. Many lives were saved in January because of the compassion that you showed.

But please don’t believe that we can put a Band-Aid on this problem to fix it, or that a decline in tsunami media coverage means that everything is OK. The church in Sri Lanka needs us now.

For only $10 per square foot and $5,000 per church, we are about to start rebuilding these churches and giving renewed hope—the life-changing hope of Jesus Christ—to these communities of precious people. This price is extremely affordable and simply unheard of here in the States, but for many Sri Lankan church congregations, this small amount of money is still not easy to acquire.

That is why, on their behalf, I am asking for your help. We, the American church, now have the opportunity to give our brothers and sisters a gift that will advance the Kingdom.

Will you partner with us to help these families and pastors? Now is the time to give a permanent solution to tsunami victims’ physical and spiritual needs. They need the church, now more than ever.

In Christ,

Stephen Strang, President
